Agenda Understanding the Regulation Game May 29, 2003 Noon--2:00 p.m. Wohlstetter Conference Center, Twelfth Floor, AEI 1150 Seventeenth St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036
Government regulation is a complicated and often arcane process that affects the life of every American. Yet few people actually know what goes on “inside the Beltway” as government officials, lobbyists, and interest groups spar over rule makings and legislation. In her new book, The Regulators, Washington Post business columnist Cindy Skrzycki sheds light on the politics and economics of the regulatory process by drawing on real-life examples—from regulating the size of breath mints to questions regarding clean air and clean water.
The Joint Center has assembled a panel that will address the political and economic decisions made by these Washington regulators, in an attempt to explain and improve the Washington regulation game
